Datacasting

Information for Television Station Operators

Our datacasting technology involves overlaying graphic images on top of video frames.  Your viewers can easily see the encoded data.

Special processing such as shrinking the image (for display in a portion of the TV screen) or data compression (for storage on certain digital video servers) can affect the quality of the datacast.

We've made a very short video clip that you can use to help us create data needed by advertisers who want to datacast on your system. You can download a QuickTime clip, or free software that you can use to generate the test pattern yourself.

Once you have the test pattern frames you should handle them just as you would any other television program or commercial.  We will need to see the 11 frames as they would appear just prior to broadcast.

For quality control, we ask that you transfer the processed images to us during a short, pre-arranged session that can take place either by telephone or by internet chat.  We will setup a special, one-time account on our systems that you can use to transmit the images back to us.

We will analyze the results and determine a data file that producers who use our software will need to datacast using your station.  With your permission, we will add your station to a list of television stations across the United States and Canada that can support datacasting.
